GNSS navigation position
GeoNumerics opens mid-level research and development positions in GNSS navigation. If you are a young engineer or scientist with a strong background on GNSS, looking for a job... this may interest you. We invite applications for these positions to be submitted to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with reference MID-GNSS-2024-03.
About the candidate: expected background and skills
We are looking for young mid-level (MSc, PhD or comparable R&D experience) STEM graduates with proven:
- Experience in kinematic GNSS and other positioning/navigation methods (models, algorithms and performance).
- Sound mathematical background including functional and stochastic modelling and estimation.
- Knowledge of numerical methods and algorithms and experience in their implementation as software in one or more of these programming languages: C, C++...
- Fluent English: writing and speaking skills at article, report, and oral presentations level. (Spanish and Catalan is welcome and will be a plus in final shortlisted selection. Same thing for other major languages.)
In addition, we will value experience in/with or knowledge of:
- GNSS data processing and analysis with some of the popular commercial or academic GNSS software suites.
- Experience with Windows, Linux and Android operating systems. Development of real-time applications.
We are looking for scientifically and technically motivated candidates to
- apply the said technologies in areas like trajectory determination of all types of vehicles, from submarines to autonomous vehicles, to drones, to aircraft, to space vehicles,
- apply the said technologies to modern geodesy and
- integrate the said technologies in multi-sensor positioning and navigation systems.
Do not feel afraid of contacting us. If you believe that you are over-qualified or under-qualified for the position but, still, are interested in working with us, let us know.
At GN, we value scientific and technical excellence, consistency and detail, reliability and commitment, creativity and innovation, honesty, teamwork, trust and respect.
Work to be done
Design and development of global navigation satellite system (GNSS) mathematical models for positioning and navigation. Development and support of GNSS raw data pre-processing software. Processing of GNSS and multi-sensor measurements with in-house and third-party commercial and academic software. Learning about GN R&D activities and related software. Eventually, providing support to and helping in the preparation of offers and project proposals.
His/her activities will be conducted in the frame of Spanish and international projects for the navigation of surface and underwater vessels, autonomous land vehicles, aerial robots (drones), aircraft and spacecraft.
Salary, professional growth and stability
- Salary to be negotiated depending on your skills, background and experience.
- Participation in frequent internal seminars, direct contact to our internationally recognised experts, participation in international project meetings and conferences.
- Evolution to become a key person in GNSS, identify technology trends and applications, and to contribute with ideas and knowledge to the rest of the company activities with a holistic attitude.
Your future mentors and colleagues
As said, GN members are geomatics/navigation experts of various scientific, technical and management backgrounds. At GN you will be able to work with and learn from internationally recognised experts in the field of geomatics, sensor fusion, photogrammetry and remote sensing, GNSS and inertial navigation, and drone navigation among other relate disciplines. Below our technical senior core staff:
- Marta Blázquez (BSc Mathematics, MSc Airborne Photogrammetry & Remote Sensing, PhD Aerospace Science & Technology) - Chief Technology Officer.
- Ismael Colomina (Licentiate and PhD Mathematics) - Chief Executive Officer and Chief Scientist.
About GeoNumerics
GeoNumerics (GN) is a small company with a long experience devoted to geomatics and navigation. We develop software and conduct applied research in the areas of geomatics and navigation.
GN members are geomatics/navigation experts of various scientific (mathematics and physics), technical (software engineering and cartography) and management backgrounds. Global satellite navigation systems, inertial navigation, drone navigation and applications, navigation of robots and autonomous vehicles is our business.
We develop and license state-of-the-art software components, provide consultancy services and conduct research and development (R&D) projects for the geomatic and navigation markets. We focus on the needs and technology of high precision kinematic surveying; sensor orientation/calibration, trajectory determination and their integration.
Our software is used all over the world. Our parameter estimation software components are the internal computational engines of orientation and calibration mapping solutions running in mapping, remote sensing and environmental organisations all over the world. We have computed or contributed to the computation of time-position-velocity-attitude (tPVA) trajectories of land vehicles, fixed wing aircraft, drones and space launchers.
We have provided research and development (R&D) consultancy services to organisations in North America, South America and Europe. We have contributed to projects as the European VEGA launcher or to the exploitation of the Galileo satellite navigation system. We have computed or contributed to the computation of tPVA trajectories of land vehicles, fixed wing aircraft, drones and space launchers. We regularly participate in European Union R&D projects like those of the past and current FP7, Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe programmes.
Working environment and conditions
GN headquarters are located in Castelldefels, in the Parc Mediterrani de la Tecnologia (PMT), a pleasant technology park and university campus, easily reachable by train, bus or car. GN is a team of committed, creative and hard-working people where work is fun and fun is work. In return we offer:
- an environment for professional fast development and networking,
- flexible working hours,
- progressive allowance for remote work, and
- as R&D are intensive, we offer 23 rest days distributed in a summer holiday month plus 1 Eastern and 1 Christmas week.
