Welcome to Pere Molina, our new Advanced Applications Programme Manager
GeoNumerics today announced the appointment of Mr. Pere Molina as its Advanced Applications Programme Manager.
Up to now, Molina was a researcher at the Centre Tecnològic de Comunicacions de Catalunya (CTTC, Castelldefels, Spain) since the beginning of 2014, following his period between 2007 and 2013, as a research assistant and researcher, at the Institute of Geomatics (IG).
"I am happy to welcome Pere Molina to lead our advanced applications group," said Ismael Colomina, Chief Scientist of GeoNumerics. "Pere is an expert in multi-sensor orientation and navigation including satellite, inertial, photogrammetric and laser measurements. He has led various complex Spanish and European research and development (R&D) projects. He has a broad view of geomatics and navigation technology and masters the art of communicating scientific and technology concepts."
Mr. Molina was the technical coordinator of the FP7 GSA project CLOSE-SEARCH (2010-2011) while at the IG. He also led the technical coordination of the PERIGEO project, an R&D project funded by the Spanish INNPRONTA programme. He participated in other R&D projects, such as the FP7 GSA project IEGLO. He has co-authored a number of articles on the topic of unmanned aircraft for photogrammetry and remote sensing applications, for planetary navigation and for Search-And-Rescue applications.
Pere Molina received his degree in Mathematics from the University of Barcelona (UB, Barcelona, Spain) as well as his MSc in Advanced and Professional Mathematics. Moreover, he holds an MSc in Airborne Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, by the former IG.
The first challenge of Molina will be leading the technical coordination of the Horizon 2020 project mapKITE, lead by GeoNumerics, and featuring partners from Austria, Brazil, Germany, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland. The project is devoted to a novel paradigm for combined kinematic terrestrial and aerial –with unmanned aircraft– geodata acquisition systems for high-resolution mapping.
Molina said "It is a great pleasure to be part of this highly experienced and enthusiastic group, and keep on growing in the field of Geomatics. I'm looking forward to get started and face the upcoming amazing challenges in GeoNumerics."
